Overview
The United States Congress established The Congressional Award in 1979 to recognize initiative, service, and achievement in young people. It is a non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive program. The Congressionally-sponsored initiative encourages young Americans to better both themselves and their communities through service, personal development, fitness and curiosity about the world around them.
Participants can earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold Certificates and Medals by setting and achieving goals in four program areas: Voluntary Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration.
Eligibility
The program is open to all youth in the United States between the ages of 14 and 24. There is no GPA requirement, and the program is designed to be flexible and accessible.
