Economy and Jobs

Far too often, the hard-working middle class families who keep our country running struggle to keep up with rising costs, economic uncertainty, and a system that too often favors large corporations over working people. I believe we have a responsibility to support America’s workers and strengthen the middle class by creating an economy that rewards hard work and expands opportunity. Congress must continue investing in small businesses, domestic manufacturing, workforce development, and innovation that creates good-paying jobs here at home.

As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, I have worked closely with my colleagues to identify policies that strengthen our economy and create long-term growth. In 2022, I was proud to support the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, which included important provisions to close tax loopholes, crack down on fraud and tax evasion, and ensure wealthy corporations pay their fair share. These measures were designed to lower costs for working families while making our tax system more equitable.

Investing in infrastructure, transportation, and domestic manufacturing is also critical to building a stronger economy and creating sustainable jobs. The CHIPS and Science Act authorized nearly $280 billion in funding to strengthen American research, innovation, and semiconductor manufacturing. The law created incentives for companies to expand production in the United States while supporting workforce training, national security, and long-term global competitiveness. I proudly voted for this legislation because it has helped rebuild America’s manufacturing base, strengthens supply chains, and positions our country to compete in the industries of the future.

Moving forward, we must continue fighting for an economy that works for everyone. That means protecting workers’ rights, lowering costs for families, supporting American industries, and ensuring every person has the opportunity to succeed. When we invest in our workers, our communities, and our future, we build a stronger and more resilient economy for generations to come.
