Hurricane Ida Disaster Resources
President Biden approved Governor Lamont’s request to declare a major disaster for the State of Connecticut and several counties due to damage caused by Hurricane Ida. Fairfield County residents with uninsured losses from Hurricane Ida may be eligible to get certain expenses covered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Congressman Himes Announces $1.25 Million in Federal Grant Funding for Drug-Free Communities Support Programs
Today, Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04) announced that two community coalitions, the Community Fund of Darien’s Thriving Youth Task Force and Fairfield Public Schools in partnership with Fairfield CARES, received Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program grants. Each will be awarded $625,000 over five years, totaling $1.25 million in funding to address local youth substance use.

Washington, DC— Last week, Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04), along with Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Congressman Mondaire Jones (NY-17) sent a letter to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) asking it to prioritize using recently approved construction funding for the Byram River Basin project.

Today, Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04) announced the U.S. General Services Administration awarded Stamford-based Pitney Bowes a $79 million, five-year contract. The contract is for mailing equipment, supplies, and mailing solutions. Pitney Bowes employs over 1,000 employees in their Stamford headquarters and Shelton operation.

Today, Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04) announced Bridgeport Hospital and Greenwich Hospital will be awarded $14,212,698 in grant funding through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The $5,111,679 to Bridgeport Hospital and $9,101,398 to Greenwich Hospital will reimburse the costs accrued from the emergency response to COVID-19, including expenses for PPE equipment, testing centers, medical equipment, and increased staff presence.
