Today, we as a Capitol Hill community and a nation mourn the loss of United States Capitol Police Officer William Evans. All of our thoughts are with his family and loved ones in the face of this terrible tragedy. The senseless act of violence that took Officer Evans’ life has no place in our society. Capitol Police put their lives on the line every day to protect thousands of workers on the Hill, and we owe them a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.
