WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) released the following statement regarding reports that the President will address the American public tomorrow evening to outline his plan to draw down troops in Afghanistan.
“We continue to sacrifice too many American lives and spend too much money fighting a never-ending conflict in Afghanistan. The scope of our mission there is both too large and unclear, and it’s time to redirect our attention and resources toward our economy, deficit reduction and desperately-needed investment here at home. I am eager to hear the President’s plan to begin bringing our troops home from Afghanistan and look forward to his address tomorrow night.”
