Washington, DC – Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) issued the following statement on Israel's ground operation in Gaza.
“Once again, Israel has found itself under attack by Hamas terrorists who deliberately target Israeli civilians and use innocent Palestinians as human shields. Israel has a right to defend itself from terrorists bent on its destruction. The loss of life on both sides of the Gaza border is a tragedy and must stop. That begins with Hamas stopping its missile attacks and incursions and with all parties then negotiating towards the peace that the Israeli and Palestinian people deserve.”
