Bridgeport, CT – Today, Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04) visited a blood drive in Greenwich, Connecticut to help bring awareness to the ongoing need for blood donations in the state. Earlier this month, Connecticut Blood Center (CTBC), one of Connecticut’s primary blood suppliers to over a dozen hospitals, declared an emergency shortage following a 20 percent decline in donations.

Donating blood is a simple way to make a lifesaving difference in our community,” said Congressman Himes. “I would encourage everyone who is able to visit a local center this holiday season. Thank you to the American Red Cross and all of our local healthcare providers for their hard work ensuring that everyone has access to the medical care and resources that they need.”
