STAMFORD—At a press conference today at L-1 Identity Solutions, Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) and company executives formally announced Himes’ position on the House Committee on Homeland Security.
“Our government’s first and most important duty is to keep America safe,” said Congressman Himes. “I'm proud and honored to have been selected to work on this most critical of missions, and look forward to working with our security agencies and companies like L-1 to keep our country and our families safe.”
Homeland Security is critical to the daily activity of many residents of the 4th District. Roughly 35 miles from New York City and home to vital financial services and other commercial infrastructure, the district was profoundly affected by 9/11, when 52 residents tragically lost their lives. A former Emergency Medical Technician, Congressman Himes worked with first responders to provide aid at Ground Zero on 9/11.
“We are proud to have a partner in Congress like Rep. Himes dedicated to ensuring our country leads the way in security innovation,” said Robert V. LaPenta, Chairman and CEO of L-1 Identity Solutions. “We had an informative meeting today, and I look forward to our future work together.”
