WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) announced a $196,601 grant today for Trumbull-based small business ZetrOZ to invest in its new product, the world’s smallest ultrasound pain therapy device for osteoarthritis patients. The iPod-sized device, which is currently in clinical trials, will address the demand for non-pharmaceutical alternatives to current pain treatments for rural citizens and the economically disadvantaged.
“Congratulations to ZetrOz—this type of life-changing, innovative product development is exactly why we need to ensure America continues to invest in the research and development the private sector won’t do,” Himes said. “I look forward to seeing the impact of this product, especially as it brings relief to many people who couldn’t have otherwise afforded the care they need.”
The funding was awarded through the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Grant program. This competitive grant program enables small businesses to explore new technologies and commercialize their innovations.
