Washington, D.C - Congressman Jim Himes (D-CT) issued the following statement after the release of the House Resolution Directing certain committees to continue their ongoing investigations as part of the existing House of Representatives inquiry into whether sufficient grounds exist for the House of Representatives to exercise its Constitutional power to impeach Donald John Trump, President of the United States of America, and for other purposes.
“This week, the House of Representatives will be voting on a resolution directing certain committees, including the House Intelligence Committee, of which I am a member, to continue their ongoing investigations as part of the existing impeachment inquiry. The resolution lays the framework for the investigation going forward, describes the rules and structure of public hearings to share the information with the American people, and provides mechanisms for the minority party to be involved. As the investigation moves into its next phase, our top priority remains representing the American people in this inquiry and ensuring the process is fair and expedient.”
