WASHINGTON, DC— Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) released the following statement regarding his vote against the GOP budget proposal this evening, which would only extend the debt ceiling for six months:

“I opposed the budget plan pushed through by the House Majority today because it would extend our debt crisis, increase economic uncertainty, and almost certainly lead to a downgrade of our nation’s credit. I look forward to supporting a balanced proposal that cuts the deficit while protecting critical investments in our future prosperity and the American middle class.”
