WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) released the following statement regarding his vote against reauthorizing the PATRIOT Act today.
“While I believe many of the provisions in the PATRIOT Act are essential to fighting terrorism, we’ve extended this flawed law for too long. As it stands, the PATRIOT Act infringes on our constitutional right to privacy, and I urge my colleagues to rewrite the law so that it both keeps us safe and respects our rights.”
