BRIDGEPORT, CT – Rep. Jim Himes (CT-4) will hold three town hall meetings in early August (note: this is from 2010) to discuss the complex nature of the fiscal problems facing our country and to gather input from constituents on how they would like to see the federal budget balanced. Himes will provide an outline of the federal budgeting process and then ask constituents to share their ideas and solutions.
Himes has a strong, consistent record of fiscal responsibility. Some of his deficit-reduction efforts include sponsoring the Pay-As-You-Go-Act (PAYGO), supporting an effort to use remaining TARP funds to pay down the deficit, and pushing Democratic leadership to adopt a budget before passing spending bills. Additionally, Himes recently unveiled legislation to cut up to $70 billion in wasteful-spending.
