WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) released the following statement regarding the announcement that Shelton resident Teresa C. Younger, Executive Director of Connecticut’s Permanent Commission on the Status of Women, has been named President and CEO of the Ms. Foundation for Women:
“Congratulations to Teresa on being named to this prestigious position in one of our nation’s foremost women’s rights organizations. Through her years working in Connecticut – from directing the ACLU of Connecticut to heading the General Assembly’s commission on women’s issues – Teresa has made a name for herself as a strong and tireless advocate for women. Teresa pushed for the inclusion of more women in our state government, fought for equal pay for equal work, and successfully advocated for a much-needed increase of the state’s minimum wage to provide for the economic security of women and their families. I know that the Ms. Foundation will be in good hands under Teresa’s leadership, and I look forward to seeing all that she will accomplish in the coming years.”
