Washington, DC— Today, Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04) voted to pass the Six-Bill Appropriations package focused on helping communities across the country. The funding from these bills will lower the cost of living, create jobs, help working families, and support small businesses. They include 10 Community Project Funding requests for Connecticut’s Fourth District, resulting in $17,101,691 for local priorities. The remaining appropriations bills that will include Southwest Connecticut projects are still awaiting consideration.

“These projects will make a meaningful difference in the lives of Connecticut’s families,” said Rep. Himes. “This funding will facilitate the construction and revitalization of public spaces, improve local infrastructure, increase access to affordable housing, and more. We worked closely with local organizations and leadership to identify the most meaningful ways to invest in the community, and today I am proud to help bring us one step closer to that goal.”  

The ten projects Himes secured funding for as a part of this package are:

• Women's Business Development Council, Inc. -- $500,000 for the expansion of the Women's Business Development Council Technical Assistance to support minority- and women-owned businesses in the district.
• City of Stamford-- $1,000,000 for the expansion of Stamford’s effective bioswales initiative to capture, treat, and infiltrate stormwater runoff.
• Western Connecticut Council of Governments -- $200,000 for the development of sanitary sewer infrastructure in the towns of Ridgefield and Redding.
• City of Stamford -- $3,000,000 for the construction of a new satellite of the Ferguson Library system.
• The Riverbrook Regional YMCA -- $2,000,000 for the creation of a YMCA Community Center for residents in South Norwalk.
• Town of Wilton Department of Public Works -- $1,425,000 for the enhancement of the storm sewer system surrounding the stadium turf at the Wilton High School Sports Complex.
• City of Norwalk -- $5,500,000 for the revitalization of Wall Street’s city center through the implementation of a more comprehensive and balanced transportation system.
• Applied Behavioral Rehabilitation Institute, Inc. -- $750,000 for the rehabilitation of the current Homes for the Brave facility.
• Baldwin Holdings Inc. -- $1,976,691 for the construction of 9 units of housing that will be occupied by families that participate in the Housing Choice Voucher Project-Based Program.
• Town of Trumbull -- $750,000 for a multi-use Veterans and Community Center for Trumbull and the region’s veterans, small businesses, civic groups, and residents.

The House passed funding for the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture, Rural Development, Energy and Water Development, Financial Services and General Government, Interior, Environment, Military Construction, and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act by a vote of 220-207.
