Washington, DC – Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) released the following statement today marking the one-year anniversary of the Senate’s strong bipartisan vote to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill (S. 744). Himes is a cosponsor of similar immigration reform legislation in the House (H.R. 15).

“It has been one year since the Senate passed a comprehensive immigration reform bill with overwhelming bipartisan support, and it is unacceptable that House Republican leaders still refuse to act. Immigration reform is not only the morally right thing to do, but it will strengthen our borders, create jobs and reduce our deficits by $900 billion over the next two decades. We can’t afford any more excuses or delays. It is long past time for the House to vote.”
