Himes Statement on Libya

April 21, 2011

WASHINGTON, DC--Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) released the following statement on the situation in Libya.

"Like many, I was relieved that massacres have been averted in Libya, and once again thrilled with the competence of our armed forces. But we are now militarily engaged in a third Muslim country with unpredictable outcomes and an unclear end game. As Americans, we feel personally the yearnings of those around the world for freedom and liberty. But long and painful experience shows that our blood and treasure should be committed in the rarest of circumstances. I hope and expect that U.S. forces will disengage from Libya as soon as possible."
