Himes Statement on MLK Day

WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) will participate in events and ceremonies throughout the weekend to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Congressman issued the following statement:

“It is with great pleasure that I join the citizens of Fairfield County to celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We honor his legacy by recognizing it as a call to action to continue our efforts to ensure equal opportunity for all and to abide by the core values that make our nation great.”

The Congressman will participate in the following events throughout the district:

Greenwich Fellowship of Clergy Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Service
Congressman Himes will attend the annual service hosted by the Greenwich Fellowship of Clergy.

Eagle Scout Court of Honor Recognizing Daniel Rose
Congressman Himes will congratulate Daniel Rose on earning the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor for a Boy Scout.

Martin Luther King Day 31st Annual Black Pride Program
Congressman Himes will celebrate Martin Luther King Day with the Mount Aery Congregation in Bridgeport.

Keynote Speech at Norwalk Public Schools MLK Day Event
Congressman Himes will be the keynote speaker at the Norwalk Public Schools’ annual motivational MLK Day event, promoting activism and education.

“The Dream in Our Time” Celebration
Congressman Himes will participate in the post-march celebration following the annual Stamford MLK Day March.
