Anyone with eyes, ears, and the ability to discern fact from fiction could clearly see Donald Trump incited a seditious riot - an act of domestic terrorism - to break the American tradition of the peaceful transition of power on January 6. The lies Donald Trump told leading up to this riot, and continued telling even as insurrectionists breached the Capitol, left many dead, hundreds injured, and countless traumatized. Today, despite the failure of a two-thirds majority of the Senate to ratify these facts and convict Donald Trump, I am heartened by the courage of 57 patriots who upheld their oaths and stood on the right side of history.
History will be the ultimate judge of the actions of Donald Trump. And history now looks upon us to do the work of the American people, and turn the page from this dark chapter.
