Funding: $26,675,000,000
Description: Provides funding to States and Tribal governments to repair and rebuild bridges in poor condition. There are approximately 250 bridges in Connecticut in this condition (detailed here). To help local governments that struggle to pay for costly bridge projects, 15% of funds will be set- aside for “off-system bridges” including projects on locally-owned facilities that are not on the National Highway System. Off-System Bridges are on a road that is not part of the designated state highway system and is under the direct jurisdiction of the local government.
Eligible Recipients: Formula funding to States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico
Eligible Uses: Replace, rehabilitate, preserve, protect, and construct bridges on public roads.
