WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) issued the following statement today commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Allied Forces’ D-Day operation during World War II.
“Today we honor the thousands of brave Americans who set ashore on the beaches of Normandy 70 years ago, and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation,” Himes said. “Their courage and determination on that fateful day turned the tide toward victory in World War II, clearing a path for the liberation of Europe from Nazi domination. Let us express our profound thanks to all our veterans and the fine men and women who are now serving in harm's way to protect our freedom and democracy."
