This week, the House is expected to consider four bills, ranging from emergency response to federal spending.

Senate Amendment to the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Reauthorization Act of 2013 (H.R. 307): reauthorizes and modifies medical disaster and emergency response programs facilitating the development of chemical, biological, radioactive, and nuclear medical countermeasures. It also creates a 15-member interagency National Advisory Committee on Children and Disasters and provides for the redeployment of federally funded personnel during an emergency. The Senate amendment extends reauthorizations an additional year, through 2018.
H.R. 668: requires all presidential budgets submitted to Congress to include an estimate of the cost per taxpayer of any annual deficits projected by the budget.
The Stop Tobacco Smuggling in the Territories Act of 2013 (H.R. 338): amends the federal criminal code to bring American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Guam within the jurisdiction of the federal prohibition on contraband cigarettes and smokeless tobacco.
Department of Defense, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act, 2013 (H.R. __): funds government operations through September 30, the remainder of Fiscal Year 2013. (t The current continuing resolution funding the government expires March 27). All of this funding will be subject to the across-the-board sequestration that began March 1, which cuts $85 billion from FY 2013 spending.
