WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) released the following statement today after the U.S. Department of Education announced that the Norwalk school district is among 31 finalists for the Race to the Top-District competition. The U.S. Department of Education will award winners selected from among these finalists between $4 million and $30 million to implement their plans to improve student learning. Winners will be announced by Dec. 31, 2013.

This funding would help Norwalk continue its work to ensure that every child gets a chance to succeed. A good education system is the foundation of our economy, and this funding will help Norwalk Schools continue their work to help every single child success in school and beyond.”
