This week, the House will consider seven bills, ranging from aviation to healthcare.
Legislation under consideration this week includes:
Motion to go to Conference on the FAA Air Transportation Modernization and Safety Improvement Act (H.R. 658): extends authorization of the Federal Aviation Administration. After many short-term reauthorizations, Congress has now reached a deal for long-term funding of the FAA. The House and Senate both passed their own versions of this bill, so it now goes to “conference” for the two chambers to resolve the differences between their versions.
H.R. 3835: prohibits a cost of living adjustment for the salaries of Members of Congress and all other legislative branch employees.
H.Res. 496: adjusts the amount of money certain House committees can spend.
H.R. 3567: amends title IV of the Social Security Act to require states to implement policies preventing assistance under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program from being used in strip clubs, casinos, and liquor stores.
H.R. 1173: repeals provisions of the Public Health Service Act enacted under the Affordable Care Act (known as the CLASS Act) which established a national, voluntary insurance program for purchasing community living assistance services and supports in order to provide individuals with functional limitations with tools that will allow them to maintain their personal and financial independence and live in the community. Proponents of the repeal have voiced concerns about the long-term actuarial soundness of the provision.
H.R. 3582: amends the Congressional Budget Act of 1974 to require macroeconomic analysis of the impact of legislation to be passed by Congress.
H.R. 3578: amends the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985 to reform the budget baseline.
