The city of Stamford has received two grants from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The awards total $1,638,718 for affordable housing for Stamford residents. The two HUD grants include:

  • $1,045,824 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The CDBG program helps state and local governments develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income people.
  • $ 592,894 HOME grant. The HOME program helps expand the supply of decent, affordable housing to low- and very low-income families.

These grants are distributed yearly and are determined based on criteria relating to the purposes of the grant.
