I have recently added my voice to the “It Gets Better” Project, a collection of over 10,000 video messages to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth. In my video, I tell LGBT kids – both in my district and nationwide – that no matter how bad things may be now, things will get better and they will discover a world where they are appreciated and loved for who they are.
This is a very important project: kids deserve to know that there are people out there who care about them and support them regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or anything else that makes them feel different.
