WASHINGTON, D.C. - The deadline for submissions to the 2019 Congressional Art Competition has been extended by one week to Friday, April 26 at 5 P.M.
The winning artist will receive two roundtrip tickets to Washington D.C. to attend the competition’s result announcement ceremony, and the Fourth District runners-up will have their artwork displayed in my Bridgeport and Stamford district offices. Meeting the talented student artists and their families is something I look forward to each spring.
Students interested in entering this year’s competition must complete and sign a release form and email it to Lauren.Gray@mail.house.gov. The release form is available here. Each competitor may submit only one piece of artwork, which, including the frame must be no larger than 26 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 4 inches deep, to the outside of the frame, and 15 pounds in weight. The student’s art and a copy of the student’s release form must be affixed to the back and delivered to my Bridgeport office by 5:00 P.M. on Friday, April 26, 2019. I encourage all students in grades 9-12 who reside in or attend high school in Connecticut’s Fourth Congressional District to submit a piece of artwork in the 2019 Congressional Art Competition. Entries will be judged by a panel of local artists and representatives of arts organizations in Southwest Connecticut. Additionally, I will hold a reception to honor this year’s participants. The winning entry from our district will be displayed for one year at the United States Capitol alongside artwork from every congressional district across the country.
