“It is with great sadness that I learned of the death of Capitol Police Officer Brian D. Sicknick. My thoughts today are with his grieving family, community, and fellow officers.
“Every day, the men and women of Capitol Police put themselves in harm’s way in order to protect our democratic institutions and the members and staff who work in the Capitol. January 6 was another example of this bravery. The loss of officer Sicknick reminds us all that the risks of this noble service are all too real. We must honor his memory by continuing to defend the ideals he protected.”
