“The jubilation in Cairo, as Egyptians sense a more open and democratic future, brings tears to my eyes. The change in Egypt has the potential to bring about a more stable, prosperous and peaceful Middle East. As in all change, there is also some risk. I applaud the forbearance of the Egyptian military, the peaceful perseverance of the Egyptian protestors, and the careful policy of the U.S. administration, and urge all the involved parties to work to make sure this change delivers the open and prosperous democracy that Egyptians, and all people, deserve.”
