Washington, DC – Today, the United States House of Representatives passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2025. The NDAA funds the United States’ defense programs and includes significant investments in defense industrial base suppliers and technology companies in Connecticut. This year, it also includes the Intelligence Authorization Act which advances funding and other priorities for the Intelligence Community.
“The 2025 National Defense Authorization Act strengthens existing defense programs, improves pay and benefits for servicemembers— including a 14.5% increase for junior enlisted servicemembers— and ensures that the United States keeps pace with our adversaries in technology and innovation,” said Congressman Himes. “I am proud that Connecticut’s robust defense manufacturing presence remains at the heart of these missions, and that this legislation invests further in our businesses and workforce.”
The National Defense Authorization Act of 2025 invests billions of dollars in funding for Connecticut companies. This includes:
- One Virginia Class submarine and the authority to execute a contract for a second Virginia class submarine;
- Incremental funding for the second boat in the Virginia-class program and additional funding for materials;
- The second increment of funding for construction of the second boat in the Columbia Class program and additional funding for materials;
- The purchase of 24 UH-60M Blackhawks and 20 CH-53Ks to be built at Sikorsky;
- Funding for the Blackhawk Block II modernization program to be led at Sikorsky.
