Washington, DC– Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04) today released the following statement:

“The murder of Sayfollah Musallet, a 20-year-old American citizen visiting his family in the West Bank, is appalling and unacceptable. My heart is with his family and community as they mourn this tragic loss. The Israeli government must immediately investigate this brutal killing, and those responsible should be brought to justice.

“For too long, violence in the West Bank has undermined the prospects for peace and long-term stability in the region. Earlier this year, I joined Representatives Nadler and Smith in introducing the West Bank Violence Prevention Act to ensure that instigators are held accountable for their actions. Today, I am calling on my colleagues to support this effort and move towards restoring peace and security for the Israeli and Palestinian people.”
