Washington, D.C. – Representatives Rosa L. DeLauro (CT – 3) and Jim Himes (CT-4) issued the following statement after a single-engine plane trying to land at Sikorsky Memorial Airport this morning skidded off the end of the runway and crashed into the Main Street Fence. While the seven aboard the plane appear to be unharmed, the incident seems to be at the same location as several other plane incidents have occurred over the years.

“We are relieved to learn that although there was a plane crash at Sikorsky Airport, no one appears to be injured or require hospitalization.

“However, this incident further emphasizes the need for all parties to amicably resolve their differences over the airport.  The safety of those flying in and out of the airport must be the highest priority.  We have no doubt that an equitable solution regarding the future of the airport can be found.”
