WASHINGTON, DC— Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) released the following statement regarding Governor Malloy’s State of the State Address and legislative package for the 2014 legislative session of the Connecticut General Assembly:
“I applaud Governor Malloy for outlining a plan to invest in the future of Connecticut by focusing on improving our state’s education system. I am particularly pleased with the Governor’s plan to provide for statewide universal access to pre-K education. As a cosponsor of legislation to expand access to early education at the national level, I share the Governor’s vision for an education system that gives every child a solid foundation on which to build the rest of their schooling. The children of today are the workers, innovators, and leaders of tomorrow, and the Governor’s forward-thinking agenda sets Connecticut on a path towards long-term economic health.”
