WASHINGTON, DC— Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04) released the following statement on President Trump’s executive orders halting immigration and refugee admittance into the United States:
“I am outraged at Donald Trump's inhumane Executive Order banning refugees and immigrants from across the globe. It undermines the United States' national security and our moral authority while causing even more suffering for those fleeing war-torn regions or oppressive regimes.
“This action has brought the dark dreams of anti-Muslim hate rhetoric to life. I have spent the past day hearing from my constituents and Americans across the country who are beside themselves over families being torn apart and a nation betraying its promise and its core values. I will do all I can to stop this action, including making sure the voices of all my constituents are heard, examining legal actions, and organizing my colleagues in Congress to do the same.”
