WASHINGTON, DC— Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04) released the following statement on the 16th anniversary of the terror attacks of September 11, 2001:

“16 years ago today, we witnessed the worst mankind has to offer as the World Trade Center, Pentagon and our very sense of security were attacked.

“This tragedy also drew out the best of mankind, however, in the selfless first responders who ran into the fire, in the young men and women who answered their country’s call to service and in the friends, neighbors and strangers who came together to support one another. Today, I see that same capacity for remarkable love and sacrifice in Houston and Florida.

“We in Southern Connecticut suffered terrible losses on 9/11. I will always try to honor the memory of those we lost by concentrating on the generosity of spirit that is the core American value.”
