This week, the House is expected to consider nine bills, ranging from financial services to the budget.
Items under consideration this week include:
H.R. 1513: expands the boundary of Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania to include the train station at which President Abraham Lincoln arrived to deliver the Gettysburg Address.
S. 230: authorizes the Peace Corps Commemorative Foundation to establish a commemorative work in the District of Columbia to honor the formation of the Peace Corps and its mission and ideals.
H.R. 841: allows the Department of Interior to accept land to be placed into trust by the Grand Ronde Indian Community if that land was located within the boundaries of its former 1857 reservation.
Holding Company Registration Threshold Equalization Act of 2013 (H.R. 801): increases the threshold at which a savings and loan company must register with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) from 500 to 2,000 shareholders. This brings it in line with the thresholds set by the JOBS Act for banks. Rep. Himes sponsored the bill included in the JOBS Act and is a lead sponsor of this bill.
H.R. 2274: exempts mergers and acquisitions (M&A) brokers that assist in the transfer of ownership of small, privately owned businesses from Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registration.
H.J.Res. __: provides funding for the government for an additional three days — through Jan. 18, 2014 — at the sequester-reduced levels in effect at the end of FY 2013. This will give congressional leaders more time to negotiate a long-term budget deal.
OPM IG Act (H.R. 2860): allows the Inspector General of the Office of Personnel Management to receive revolving fund monies to pay for IG audit and investigative work associated with the fund.
H.R. 1233: allows former presidents to request the non-disclosure of certain records related to their presidencies. It also requires federal employees who conduct any official business with their personal email account to forward such information to agency accounts, and it updates a number of National Archives procedures related to record keeping to reflect an emphasis on electronic records.
H.R. 3362: requires the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to report weekly on health insurance enrollments through HealthCare.gov and on other detailed consumer interactions with the website, and to detail any and all problems that occur with the website.
