Washington, DC — Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04) today issued the following statement regarding the passage of the six remaining fiscal year 2024 appropriations bills. This package, which passed with a bipartisan vote of 286-134, includes funding for the following: Defense; Financial Services and General Government; Homeland Security; Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and Related Agencies; Legislative Branch; and State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs.

“It is a relief to have finally passed funding for the fiscal year 2024. I am grateful to my colleague and friend Rosa DeLauro for her hard work in negotiating a package that expands childcare programs, invests in our education systems, and fends off attacks on sustainability policies, reproductive rights, and gun violence prevention.

“This legislation is proof that strong governance is born of collaboration, negotiation, and compromise. I hope that my Republican colleagues will take that lesson to heart and work more freely across the aisle in the future to avoid such a delay.”
