Bridgeport, CT – Congressman Jim Himes joins Access Health CT, Connecticut’s official health plan marketplace created by the Affordable Care Act, to announce the Open Enrollment Period for healthcare coverage begins today, November 1. The Open Enrollment Period runs from November 1, 2019 through December 15, 2019. Connecticut residents must enroll in coverage or renew their coverage by December 15th for healthcare coverage effective January 1, 2020.
“Access Health CT continues to offer a wide choice of health plans providing the comprehensive coverage at affordable prices that Connecticut families need,” said Congressman Jim Himes. “It has never been easier to get healthcare coverage, and financial assistance is available for those who qualify as many individuals and families will receive a tax credit. I encourage all residents of the Fourth District to sign up for or renew your healthcare coverage during this six-week period.”
The six-week open enrollment period this year is shorter than usual. Any changes made during this enrollment period will affect your healthcare coverage beginning January 1, 2020. Connecticut residents with pre-existing conditions cannot be charged more based on the coverage they select, and comparing plans while renewing coverage can save families money for coverage beginning next year.
“Over 300,000 Connecticut residents receive insurance through the Affordable Care Act, many with pre-existing conditions. I will continue fighting to ensure protections for pre-existing conditions are preserved in the Affordable Care Act, while working to expand coverage and reduce healthcare costs for more Americans,” concluded Himes.
