WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) has been appointed to the House Committee on Financial Services for the 112th Congress. This will be Himes’ second term in Congress and his second term on the committee.
“I am eager to enter into a thoughtful, bipartisan discussion about how to reform housing finance and to continue our work to foster an environment that encourages a robust American financial services industry that extends credit to businesses and creates jobs,” said Himes.
During his first term on the committee, Himes was instrumental in crafting the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. During his next term, Himes hopes to extend that success to reforming the government-sponsored enterprises Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
