I want to thank Prime Minister Gordon Brown for his uplifting speech to the Joint Session of Congress. At a time when we are bent to the task of addressing the economic turmoil hurting so many Americans, the Prime Minister reminded us that we are “not just the indispensible nation,” we are the “irrepressible nation.” He reminded us that throughout our history “Americans have led insurrections in the human imagination” and celebrated our “belief that there is no such thing as an impossible endeavor.” As we contemplate our challenges, I say thank you Prime Minister, for this shot in the arm.
