Ms. Lynch was nominated by President Obama on November 8, 2014, and her confirmation was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee on February 26, 2015. 

“In her years of service as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Loretta Lynch has proven herself to be an extremely talented prosecutor and leader.  Her work and estimable character have earned her the widespread support of elected leaders and judicial experts of all stripes. I applaud her bipartisan confirmation today and support her as she continues her great work for our country as the first African-American woman Attorney General of the United States.”
