Washington, DC – Congressman Jim Himes released the following statement on his selection to chair the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development and Monetary Policy of the House Financial Services Committee.

“I am honored to be selected by my colleagues on the House Financial Services Committee and Chairwoman Waters to serve as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development, and Monetary Policy.

“The broad jurisdiction of the subcommittee will allow us to focus on the independence of our monetary policy and the integrity of the Federal Reserve; the efficient functioning of multilateral financial institutions; and most importantly, on how the American financial system can be protected from attack and misuse by those who would threaten our national security

“I hope and expect that the subcommittee will work in bipartisan fashion to protect and advance security, peace, and growth for the United States and beyond.”
