NORWALK, CT—Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) and Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling joined Police Chief Thomas E. Kulhawik today to announce a new federal law enforcement grant for the City of Norwalk. The $41,249 grant was awarded through the Justice Department’s Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program, and will be used to enhance police visibility in high-crime areas and improve street and motor vehicle safety.

“Keeping our people and our communities safe is our top priority,” Himes said. “This JAG grant will help give the Norwalk Police Department the resources it needs to support the officers that put themselves in harm’s way every day to protect us and ensure that our laws are being followed. I applaud the City of Norwalk and Police Department on being awarded this funding, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to maintain our safe, healthy, and thriving communities.”

“Congressman Himes has been an advocate for the Police Department and for public safety funding, and we appreciate his efforts on behalf of our community ,” Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling said. “These funds will be used to support police officers and increase public safety in our community, and we are truly appreciative.”
