WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) issued the following statement in response to the President’s signing of Pay-As-You-Go (PAYGO) (H.J. Res. 45) into law late yesterday:

“With the President’s signature of PAYGO legislation today, we begin the march back to the policies of fiscal responsibility that led to the budget surpluses of the 1990s. As we continue to balance the need to get Americans working again with the importance of a return to long-term fiscal stability, we will need mechanisms like PAYGO and a debt commission to get us back on track.”
