Himes Congratulates Stamford Police Officer Wayne James Honored as Top Cop
Washington, DC— Congressman Jim Himes congratulated Stamford Police Officer Wayne James who has received an honorable mention award from Top Cops for heroically saving the life of a domestic violence victim and a fellow officer. The National Association of Police Officers (NAPO) facilitates the Top Cops program.
“Keeping Stamford safe is one of the most important things we can do to make it a great place to live and raise a family,” said Officer James. “I appreciate this recognition from Top Cops, Congressman Himes, and especially from my fellow officers.”
Officer James was one of 68 police officers honored from across the nation. The Top Cops Awards pay tribute to law enforcement officers throughout country for outstanding service to their communities during the preceding year. The award recipients were nominated by fellow officers and selected from hundreds of nominations by an independent awards committee.
“We depend on brave men and women like Officer James to keep our communities and families safe,” said Congressman Himes. “We are honored to have such a committed, dedicated individual serving us in Stamford.”
NAPO, a national law enforcement group, represents over 241,000 sworn law enforcement officers from 1,000 police associations and units across the country. NAPO fights for the rights of law enforcement officers through federal legislation, legal advocacy, and education.
