WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) today voted in favor of a proposal that would have raised the nation’s debt ceiling by a responsible amount to ensure the United States could continue to pay its bills. The legislation failed as the House GOP and many other members of Congress continued playing politics with the full faith and credit of the United States government.

BRIDGEPORT, CT – Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) today presented Purple Hearts and other service medals posthumously to the families of local veterans Frank Bassarab and Vincent Stabile. Himes presented the medals during the Connecticut Fallen Heroes Ceremony at Hall School in Bridgeport.

WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) today voted against FY2012 Defense Authorization bill. Although Himes has voted in favor of such authorization bills in the past, he opposed today’s bill because it gives the President unbridled new military authority, it increases defense expenditures, and it includes no plan to bring our troops home from Afghanistan.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) today welcomed Westport Rabbi Jeremy Wiederhorn as the Guest Chaplain in the United States House of Representatives. The rabbi gave the opening prayer on the same day Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu addressed a joint session of Congress.
